Weighing and measuring of children is conducted by volunteer nursing students. Child nutrition is monitored and the ‘soup kitchen’ provides nutritionally regulated meals.
Voluntary doctors and health care professionals conduct physical examinations on children and parents, and appropriate treatment accessed through public health facilities. Follow-up care is provided by Home of Good Hope. Children with exceptional conditions or illnesses are taken to private practitioners if the public healthcare facilities are unable to be of assistance. Necessary ocular and dental checks are conducted, and Home of Good Hope provides for spectacles and dental care.
Issues such as HIV/AIDS, unwanted pregnancy, teenage pregnancy, psychological and social issues are addressed, and appropriate referral and follow-up made. Home of Good Hope is a registered Aids Charity in Namibia and HIV/AIDs education is provided to children and parents.
