Children engage daily in fun exercise activities such as physical games, singing, skipping, playing with hula hoops, and climbing. Sport is offered to both boys and girls with positive outcomes, giving children the opportunity to engage in teamwork, build confidence and reach goals.
The Home of Good Hope Sports Programmewas started in June 2012, with the purpose of keeping the youth healthy and active. Initially, soccer was the only sport offered, as facilities were easy to access. In 2015 Netball was introduced for girls. To date, the Centre has a provided for 47 athletes in the soccer and netball categories. Teams participate in local leagues and participated in the Khomas Youth Football League for several years, twice managing to finish third consecutively in 2015 and 2016, earning bronze medals.
Numerous athletes have been exposed to external environments. In 2014/15 more than 20 athletes were taken to Swakopmund on an educational tour for a week, participating in local (soccer) tournaments and activities such as sand boarding and visits to the museum and the aquarium.
To-date, the programmes greatest achievement was seeing two of its athletes travel overseas to represent Namibia. These athletes managed to go as far as China and France respectively. To be chosen to join the French Football academy was a great honour.
